Hard rubber molded contoured Back-Ups are consistently manufactured in a 90 durometer Nitrile and Viton. This brings perfect elasticity to allow stretching over the main diameter of a piston after that snapping back in the gland groove cut into the piston. 90 durometer gives suitable hardness to resist extrusion of the softer elastomeric O-Ring functioning the exact sealing function against the maximum pressure liquid or gas.
Back-up Rings are widely-used in combination with O-rings and seals for both static and dynamic sealing applications. They prevent extrusion of the O-ring or seal when it is subjected maximum pressure, and/or bigger extrusion gaps. The back-up ring must beused on the reverse pressure side of the seal. For seals which are exposed to pressure from each side, two back-up rings must be used, one on each side of the O-ring or seal.
To deliver added extrusion resistance, Back-up Rings are put them in place along with o-ring or seals for both dynamic as well as static sealing application. Our range ispreferred because of it is really easy to use features and extended working life, available in either split or non split design.
